About The Author

I’m a serial entrepreneur… I’m a novice YouTube-r…

I’m a retired cop.   I was a police officer for 17 years in total.  Now retired, I’ve relocated to the Piedmont area of North Carolina.

Until recently I owned and operated a small restaurant in a small town in North Carolina.  It’s a blessing.   Google it at Hillbilly Diner & Holy Cow Ice Cream

I’m a father.  My child is a wonderful productive of society.  I’m divorced and happy.

I’ve been a military NCO and Officer, a police officer, a restaurant owner, a auto dealership owner, a behavior change therapist, a university adjunct psychology professor, an entrepreneur, a seminar leader, a trainer, an author, a SWAT sniper, a cab driver, a police training sergeant, a nursing assistant, and a janitor.

I’m from a fundamentalist Christian background, but I’ve overcome that stuff!   Politically I am an independent and lean progressive.  I’m a life-long learner and a little bit of an egg-head sometimes.

I’ve taught CIT (crisis intervention team), leadership, supervision, management, change, police tactics, behavior change, hypnosis, meditation, mindfulness, applied psychology, behavioral psychology, communication, customer service, decision making, marketing, business development, and much more.

I’m a trainer and “way show-er”.

I’ve successfully owned 14 different restaurants & lounges.  I’ve forgotten more about the food business that most people know…

I am a subject matter expert in “what makes people tick”, leadership, and behavior change.  I am an expert in CIT (crisis intervention team) training, development, and CIT leadership.

This is a partial list of my formal education:

  • Associates of Applied Science– Criminal Justice    Community College of the Air Force
  • Associates of Arts– General studies   Saint Leo University
  • Bachelor of Arts– Human Resources Administration    Saint Leo University
  • Master of Public Administration– Organizational Leadership and Management    Golden Gate University

  • Certificate– Certified Hypnotherapist      American Academy of Hypnotherapy
  • Certification– Advance Police Officer    Oregon State Department Public Safety Standards and Training

Additionally, I’ve been fortunate enough to go to the “school of hard knocks” many times.

I’ve been stabbed, shot at, been in 2 wars, had a ruptured spleen, a ruptured appendix, had 2 strokes, had an anyerism, had lymphoma, had melanoma, had cancer 2 other times, and live with PTSD.  I writing this to tell you…. I’m indestructible. (Lol)

I was a crisis intervention team (CIT) police officer and have extensive experience dealing with people in mental health crises.  I trained police officers.
